Market Madness: literally!

We're lucky enough to have a cider mill within reasonable driving distance, and that mill was celebrating Cider Fest this past weekend. It's a popular affair, with "stuff" vendors, live music, and the not-to-be-missed cider donuts. We loaded Junior and my mom-in-law into the Big Red Beast and headed down the road. About a mile or so out, we came to the conclusion that most of the state had planned a similar outing.

Traffic was backed up for a mile in both directions.

As we watched the parking lot attendants shrug helplessly at the cars and trucks seeking space, we made an abrupt change of plans.

"Hey, let's go visit the feline conservation park, conveniently located three miles away!"

I'll admit, we had a great time at the park. I now know the difference between Siberian and Bengal tigers, and I learned that coatis love marshmallows. They like 'em almost as much as I would have liked a cider donut...

  1. My wife would've loved the cider - but she probably would've liked the tigers even more.

  2. I'd rather have gone to the feline park. You can always make your own donuts. In fact, I went and found you a recipe:

Make me some, while you're at it!

  4. We have a cider mill close by, too, that opens to the public this time of year. I haven't been in ages, but your post has got me wanting to make the trip! Clicked over from N.R. Williams, enjoyed browsing here ...

  5. Alex-- if you're ever in the area, a combo visit would be worth the trip.
Marian-- wow, thanks! We'll have to have a party. Donuts and a group-read, anyone?
Nancy-- for me? I'll be right over!
Jonne-- thanks for stopping by! Feel free to visit (here or the cider mill) any time.
